Lynn McElroy - Self-taught Artist

I grew up in the Chicago land area and I am a self taught artist. My love of art started way back in Kindergarten. In junior high and high school I sold a few art pieces and won a few awards. Throughout the years I drew pictures for my own pleasure. Then I decided to take classes at a local community college including Black & White photography, ceramics, and drawing. In these classes I improved my passion and talent for drawing.

My start as a professional came one day when I was helping a friend in her hair salon. A town trustee walked in for a haircut. While I was cutting his hair, I told him about myself being a third generation family member from my home town and I had done a drawing of the house that had been in our family for so many years. Well he loved my story and asked if I would do a drawing of the new Village Hall/ Police Station and have it ready for the dedication of the building. It was a fantastic opportunity. I met so many wonderful and kind people that were full of compliments about my drawing. What a wonderful feeling, to be filled to overflowing with a gift that I can pass onto other people who can in turn, be blessed. I feel so strongly that my prayers have been answered. I can draw for a living and love my job. I have started getting requests which launched my drawing career to where it is today.

My husband and I have two sons, one in high school and the other in college. My parents, sister, brother and their families all live nearby. My Grandmother was also an artist.

I never planned on having a business like this. I thought I would take up art again once I retired, but I am grateful this has come into my life. My goal is to bring joy into your lives through my art work. I pour my life into my art and am honored to do so.

Thank you,
Lynn
